OMessenger : Firewall Settings

 

Firewall Configuration in Windows XP

1. Exit OMessenger if running.

2. Open Windows Firewall:
       a) Click the Start, and then click the Control Panel.
       b) Click the Security Center.
       c) Select Windows Firewall.

3. Select the Exceptions tab.

4a. If OMessenger is displayed in the Exceptions list
     (i) Select it and click Delete.

     (ii) Click OK to close the windows firewall screen.
     (iii) Run OMessenger. When Windows Firewall asks "Do you want to keep blocking this program?", click Unblock.

4b. If OMessenger is not displayed in the Exceptions list.
     (i)Click the Add Program Button. Browse to the OMessenger.exe application and click OK.
     (ii) Make sure OMessenger is selected in Exceptions List.
     (iiI) Click OK to close the windows firewall screen.




Firewall Configuration in Windows 7 / Vista

1. Exit OMessenger if running.

2. Open Windows Firewall:
       a) Click the Start, and then click the Control Panel.
       b) Click the System and Security.
       c) Select Windows Firewall and Advanced Settings.
 
3. Right-click Inbound Rules, click New Rule to display the New Inbound Rule Wizard.

4. Select Program and click Next.

5. Select This program path and click Browse.

6. Browse to the OMessenger installed folder, select OMessenger.exe and click Open.

7. Click Next, check Allow the connection and click Next.

8. Make sure Domain, Private and Public are checked and click Next.

9. In the Name field, enter "OMessenger Rules".

10. Click Finish.


11. Right-click Outbound Rules, click New Rule to display the New Outbound Rule Wizard.

12. Repeat steps 4 to 10 to create a outbound rule for OMessenger.

13. Restart your computer.
